Form 2 - Apple pies

Here you can see the Apple pies the Form 2 students did. Unfortunately we ran out of time and most of the pies are under cooked.

Best pie dish to use:

  • Not more than 2 cm high.
  • Metal, pyrex (glass) or clay pie dish. (Disposable foil pie dishes make it much more difficult to work with.
  • With 200g of pastry a 15-18cm pie dish is enough.

Here are all the pies done by the Form 2 students.

Pie no 2: Using an egg wash (beaten egg) to brush the pastry with gives it a lovely golden brown colour. Milk  can also be used, especially with sweet pies.

At some point we had to improvise and use the extra pastry to cover it up. If there was more time I am sure that this girl would have managed to cover it and decorate it nicely.

and the winner is....

Anyone of you can do a pie just like this...you only need to practice more at home!
The girl who did Pie no 10 can write a comment and say who she is. I am sure you are proud of your work. Well done!
